The application process begins by creating a Ravenna account profile. You can view and track deadlines for every required piece of the Sacred Heart application through a convenient checklist on the Ravenna portal. Please note the deadlines listed within each step as they do vary between grade levels. A successful application will have every item checked off as “complete” once processed by our Admission Team.

STEP 1

Explore SHS Through an Event

September 2022 – January 2023 (optional, but recommended)

Experience Sacred Heart Schools in person* or online. SHS Admission is hosting several events throughout the 2022-23 Admission Season, including virtual Information Sessions and in-person Preview Days to help you learn what makes our community, “the second happiest place on earth.” Please note: all events are optional and attendance has no bearing on the admission process.

STEP 2

Submit the Application 

By January 5, 2023 (Supplemental documents due by February 3, 2023)

The following forms must be submitted through Ravenna by the January 5th deadline to confirm your interest in applying to Sacred Heart Schools. 

Kindergarten

• Preliminary application form and fee*
• Parent/Guardian statement
• Supplemental docuement due Feb 3: One teacher recommendation (Please note: SHS will not accept additional letters of recommendation into a student’s application file).

1st Grade

• Preliminary application form and fee*
• Parent/Guardian statement
• Two teacher recommendations (Please note: SHS will not accept additional letters of recommendation into a student’s application file).
• Current year’s report card/progress report
• Optional: Student Support Services application form

2nd – 5th Grade

• Preliminary application form and fee*
• Parent/Guardian statement
• Two teacher recommendations (Please note: SHS will not accept additional letters of recommendation into a student’s application file).
• Two prior academic years of report cards/transcripts
• Current year’s first term report card/transcript
• Optional: Student Support Services application form

*Please note: if the application fee presents a financial hardship, please contact admission@shschools.org to request a waiver.

A child must meet the age requirement below by May 31st, 2023 in order to be an applicant to the corresponding program/grade level.  

• Kindergarten = 5 years old
• 1st = 6 years old 
• 2nd = 7 years old
• 3rd = 8 years old
• 4th = 9 years old
• 5th = 10 years old

STEP 3

Schedule Kindergarten Classroom Visit/Schedule 1st-5th Grade Online Admission Assessment

Register for January – February 2023 (by appointment only)

• Kindergarten: We want to ensure that every child who enters our program is ready and set up to thrive. To assess readiness for our program, we require all Kindergarten applicants to submit the parent-guided video activity and participate in an on campus individual readiness screening during which children will engage in age appropriate activities guided by SHS faculty/learning specialists and designed to assess preparedness and social emotional readiness. Video assessment information will be available by December 1.
• Grades 1-5: We invite applicants who have completed the application to participate in a virtual assessment visit with our Lower School learning specialists and a member of our Admission Team. Depending upon the assessment and the opportunity for openings, a student may be asked to complete with a campus visit.

STEP 4

Schedule a Parent/Guardian Interview

Register for October 2022 – February 2023

• Kindergarten: Schedule a virtual interview with a member of our team through Ravenna. Interviews are for parents only and last 30-40 minutes. In order to register for a parent interview, prospective families must first submit the preliminary application form and fee.
• Grades 1-5: parents/guardians will be notified by the Admission Team if there will be an opportunity to move forward with the interview step.

Please note:  We will provide an opportunity to interview in a language other than English, if desired.

STEP 5

Apply for Tuition Assistance

By February 1, 2023 (Optional)

A child must meet the noted age requirement by August 31st, 2023 in order to be an applicant to the corresponding program/grade level: 

• Grade 6 = 11 years old

Sign up for a Parent/Guardian Interview

Registration will open in October.

Schedule a virtual interview with a member of our team through Ravenna. Middle School interviews are scheduled for parents only and should last 20-30 minutes. In order to register for a parent interview, prospective families must first submit the preliminary application form and fee.

Please note:  We will provide an opportunity to interview in a language other than English, if desired. If you are applying for more than one student, please read the instructions in Ravenna as only one family interview is required.

STEP 3

Sign up for a Family Interview

Register for January 2023 (by appointment only)

In January, applicants will be invited to schedule a virtual interview with a member of the Sacred Heart faculty/staff to take place in late Jan. This 30-40 minute interview is intended for the applicant and their parents/guardians. In order to register for an interview, prospective families must first submit the preliminary application form and fee.

Please note:  We will provide an opportunity to interview in a language other than English, if desired.
